Why Charter Private

Your dream day, made real

The beauty of a private charter is that the day is a blank canvas. Want to start with morning shelling on Keewaydin, swim at a sandbar, watch dolphins at Gordon Pass, cruise the mansions, and finish with a sunset toast? Done — your captain sequences it to the tide and the light so it all flows.

Tell us your group, your must-dos and your vibe, and we’ll design an itinerary that fits. Add champagne, a dinner stop, music, or a photographer. The only limit is the length of the day.

It’s the ultimate way to experience Southwest Florida’s water exactly the way you want.

From the Helm

How our captains sequence a custom day around the tide, then the heat

Our captains build a custom day around the tide first and the wish list second, whether the group likes that order or not. A shelling stop needs to land near a falling tide so the bar our captains want is actually showing sand, so if that’s on your list, it usually gets scheduled early or mid-morning regardless of what else the group wants first. Everything else — the mansions, the open-water cruising, the sunset close — gets built around that one fixed point rather than the other way around, because sand you can’t reach isn’t worth the fuel to get there.

Heat is the second lock. By late morning in the warmer months the sun sits high enough that a beach stop starts to feel long, so our captains will often front-load the active piece of the day — shelling, wildlife-watching, the sightseeing push — and save the slower, shaded cruising for once the group’s ready to sit back rather than stand at the rail. In summer we’re also watching the horizon for the afternoon buildup that tends to roll in off the Gulf.

Where the day genuinely flexes is mid-trip. If a manatee shows up in the bay or a school of mullet has the birds working overtime, we’ll happily burn twenty minutes there and trim it from somewhere else — usually the open cruising stretch, since that’s the one piece of any custom day that scales up or down without anyone feeling shortchanged by a shorter version of it.

The plan-B our captains keep in their back pocket is a wind shift onto the wrong shore for whatever spot was first on the list. Rather than force it, we swap the order — run the sheltered stops first, the exposed ones once the breeze settles — and most groups never even clock that the day didn’t go exactly as first discussed the night before over email.

Gear rides along ready for whichever way the day tips: a boarding ladder for the beach stop, a cooler for the slow stretch, binoculars up front for whoever wants first look at a bird or a fin. Nothing gets pulled out until the moment calls for it, which keeps the deck clear for whatever we decide to do next, and it means we’re never scrambling through a hatch while everyone waits.

Our captains also keep a rough backup order in mind before we ever leave the dock, in case the group can’t decide up front — usually wildlife and open water first while the morning’s calm, a beach or shelling stop through the middle of the day, and the slower cruising saved for last when people are ready to just sit and watch the water go by.

Want the shelling piece to anchor the day? Start with our shelling tours for what that stop actually involves. Chasing the golden hour instead? A sunset cruise built into your custom day closes things out the way most families remember longest.
