Why Sightsee by Boat

The waterfront, at your pace

On a shared cruise you follow the route; on a private one, you set it. Want extra time gawking at the mansions, a longer stop with the dolphins, or to push out to the Gulf for a sunset? Just say so — your captain builds the grand tour around your group.

It’s ideal for families, friends and visitors who want a relaxed, narrated cruise without strangers, and it pairs naturally with a dinner stop or a champagne toast. Ask all the questions you like; the captain’s along just for you.

Up to your group’s size, your music, your pace — the most comfortable way to see Naples by water.

  • The whole boat & captain, just your group
  • A custom route — linger where you like
  • Add dolphins, a sunset or a dinner stop
  • Relaxed, narrated & private

From the Helm

Building your private loop around Gordon Pass and the day’s wind

Before we ever leave the dock on a private sightseeing charter, our captains ask one question that shapes the whole route: how’s the wind sitting against Gordon Pass today? A northwest wind stacks a short chop right at the pass mouth where the bay funnels into the Gulf, so on those mornings we’ll swing the mansions and the bay-side stops first and save the open-water push for later, once the sea breeze settles into its usual afternoon pattern and the swell lays down against the beach.

Because it’s your charter and not a fixed run, the order is genuinely negotiable mid-trip. We’ve had groups ask to skip the open Gulf entirely and spend the whole hour working the quiet canals at idle speed, and we’ve had groups do the opposite — straight out through the pass for open water and dolphins, mansions on the way back in. Our captains build the plan around what you actually want once you’re aboard, not a script written the night before at the dock.

The one thing we won’t gamble on is timing the crossing to the back half of the ebb, when Gordon Pass is draining hardest and shoving the most water through that one narrow gap. Current there can run harder than it looks from the seawall, and a captain who’s run it daily reads the color change in the water — that seam where the darker channel meets the lighter sand — long before it shows on the depth sounder. We hold the deeper side of that seam without ever needing to announce it to the group riding along behind us.

What guests notice most on a private run is the pace itself: no other boat’s schedule to split time with, so if someone wants five extra minutes idling off a particular estate or drifting for a dolphin that surfaced twice, we simply give it to them. That flexibility is the entire point of going private instead of joining a shared loop with a fixed stop list and a clock running against it.

Our plan-B for a genuinely rough pass day is simple — we don’t fight it. If the wind and an outgoing tide are stacking against each other right at the mouth, we’ll keep the whole loop inside the bay and the canals, trade the open Gulf horizon for a longer, slower pass through the mansions instead, and most groups leave just as happy without ever knowing the pass was the reason.

If you already know you want the full custom version of that idea — stops, order and pace all yours from the start — look at our custom itinerary charter, or keep this trip a straight Port Royal run and add a special-occasion touch for an anniversary or birthday aboard.

Good to Know

Private Sightseeing questions

What is a private sightseeing cruise in Naples?

It’s a private charter focused on sightseeing — the whole boat and captain for your group, with a custom route past the Port Royal mansions, Gordon Pass dolphins and the Gulf coastline, at your own pace. Great for families, groups and visitors.

How much does a private sightseeing cruise cost?

Private charters are priced by the boat, not per person, so it depends on the boat and length. See live options on the booking screen or call for a quote.

Can we customize the route?

Yes — that’s the point. Tell your captain what you most want to see (mansions, dolphins, sunset, a dinner stop) and they’ll build it around you.

How many people can come?

Depends on the boat; tell us your group size and we’ll match the right vessel.

Can we add a sunset or dinner?

Absolutely — a private cruise flexes easily into a sunset or a waterfront dinner stop.
