Why the Tiki Boat

Built for celebrations, designed for families

When your group wants to celebrate on the water, what you really want is a private boat where everyone can relax, laugh and have a great time together. That’s exactly what the tiki is: a floating, thatched-roof gathering spot you book just for your crew.

Because it was designed for multigenerational families, it’s comfortable and safe (39½-inch rails all around, full shade), which makes it just as good for a kid’s birthday as for a grown-up celebration. You bring the food, drinks and playlist; we bring the boat and the captain.

Up to 26 guests, your route, your vibe. Add dolphins, a sandbar swim or a sunset to make it a day they’ll remember.

From the Helm

The tiki boat’s Naples Bay loop, and our onshore-wind swap to Rookery Bay’s edge

We shove off the tiki boat and turn north first, easing up the inside reach of Naples Bay past the seawalls under Port Royal before the music even gets loud. That opening stretch stays flat almost no matter what the Gulf is doing out past Gordon Pass, and it gives everyone aboard a few calm minutes to grab a drink and find a spot at the rail before we open the throttle. Keeping the party inside the bay instead of running out to open water is the whole trick — the umbrella stays put and the sound system doesn’t have to fight the wind for attention.

Wind direction decides the rest of the route. On a light morning we’ll swing wide and loop the open middle of the bay so the boat can turn slow circles for photos without crowding the channel. But when the breeze swings onshore out of the southwest and starts stacking a chop across that open stretch, we tuck south instead, running the mangrove-lined edge along Rookery Bay, where the shoreline breaks the wind and the ride smooths right back out. The party doesn’t stop when we change course — it just moves to calmer water.

The thatched canopy is rigged to flex a little in gusts, which is why we watch the wind more than most guests ever notice; a stiff roof would slap and rattle the second we picked up any real chop, so ours gives instead of fighting it. At the rail, groups tend to gather along whichever side is upwind, chasing the breeze, and we’ll bump the throttle down a notch there rather than fight for symmetry. The goal is a boat that feels steady under your feet for the whole loop, not a schedule kept to the minute.

If a group wants a swim stop, we wait for the tide to sit near the top of its swing before nosing onto the sandbar flats at the bay’s edge, since a falling tide there can leave you aground faster than the party’s ready for. That window runs maybe an hour either side of high water, so we’re watching it from the moment we leave the dock rather than deciding on the fly. It’s the same patience we’d bring to a private charter, just dressed up with a cooler and a speaker.

For a birthday or a bachelorette crew that wants the whole day mapped around the tiki loop, we’ll fold in a stop at a restaurant dock or hand the group off to one of our water shuttle runs once the party winds down, so the celebration doesn’t have to end when the boat ties up. It’s less about a fixed itinerary than about weighing the wind and the tide first, then building the route around whatever Naples Bay happens to be doing that morning.

What’s the best boat for a group celebration in Naples?

Our private tiki boat: a thatched-roof boat you book just for your group (up to 26) for celebrations of all kinds. Because it was designed for families, it has full shade and 39½-inch safety rails, so it’s great for kids’ birthdays and grown-up get-togethers alike.

How many people fit for a celebration?

Up to 26 guests, with comfortable shaded seating. The boat is always private to your group.

Can we bring our own food, drinks and music?

Yes — it’s your private boat, so bring the cake, the cooler and the playlist. Decorate if you like.

Is it appropriate for kids’ parties too?
