Why Celebrate Afloat

The perfect place to say forever

A sunset proposal on the Gulf is about as romantic as it gets — open water, golden light, and complete privacy with the person you’re asking. We’ve helped many couples pull it off, and we treat it like the once-in-a-lifetime moment it is.

Tell us your plan and we handle the choreography: we time the cruise so you reach the prettiest vantage right at peak sunset, can arrange champagne to toast the “yes,” and can even bring a photographer aboard (or hidden) to capture it. Your captain knows exactly when to slow down and give you the moment.

Whether you want it intimate and just the two of you, or a surprise with the crew waiting back at the dock, we’ll make it perfect.

Proposals: the quiet bend we hold off Kice Island’s outside bar for the question

There’s a quiet bend off Kice Island’s outside bar where the water opens straight west with nothing between you and the horizon — no other islands, no channel markers, just Gulf light building by the minute. That’s usually where our captains point the bow for a proposal, far enough from the main pass traffic that another boat’s wake won’t roll through at the wrong second, with open water to the west so the whole sky sits in front of you instead of behind a shoreline.

If the wind is up and that outside water gets sloppy, we move the whole plan behind Round Key instead, where the shoreline blocks enough chop to hold the boat rock-steady without losing the western light. We’ll tell you honestly if we’re switching spots and why — better to trade a slightly narrower view for a boat that isn’t swaying when it matters most. We also time the approach to avoid other charter traffic converging on the same stretch of water at the same hour.

We keep the logistics quiet and simple: if you want to hand something off to the captain ahead of time, we tuck it somewhere dry and out of sight until you give the signal, and we brief you privately on when we’ll back off the power so the moment doesn’t get rushed or missed. Most couples want the boat itself to disappear from the moment — no engine hum, no visible steering — so the water goes still right as things matter most. If a photographer’s aboard, we work out their spot on deck beforehand too, so nobody’s stepping into frame at the wrong second.

We start easing into position with roughly an hour of daylight left, while the light’s still warm but we’re technically still getting the boat set — that buffer matters, because wind or a slow pass out of Caxambas can eat ten minutes you didn’t plan for. The moment we’re actually watching for lands a few seconds after the sun touches the water, when the color is still building rather than fading — that’s usually when most people want the ring out, not after the show has already peaked. Our captains pull back on the power a beat early and hold the boat broadside to the light so neither of you has to squint into it, then step back toward the console to give you the bow and the horizon to yourselves.

Every proposal we run is a little different in what the couple wants — some ask for total privacy, others want a photographer aboard, and we build the route around whichever it is rather than a fixed script. If you’re deciding between a proposal trip and a broader romantic cruise with no set moment attached, the honest answer is we plan either one the same careful way; the only difference is whether we’re watching the clock for a single specific minute or just for the best light of the evening.

Good to Know

Proposals questions

Can you propose on a boat in Naples?

Yes — and it’s one of the most romantic ways to do it. We help plan a private sunset proposal cruise, timing the route to reach the prettiest vantage at peak golden hour, and can arrange champagne and a photographer. Your captain gives you the perfect, private moment.

Can you help plan the proposal?

Absolutely — it’s a specialty. Tell us your vision and we choreograph the timing, champagne, photographer and privacy so all you do is ask the question.

Can a photographer come?

Yes — we can have a photographer aboard (in plain sight or discreetly hidden) to capture the moment. Many couples love having professional photos of the proposal.

Should it be just the two of us?

It can be — many proposals are intimate, just the couple and a discreet captain. Others surprise the partner with the crew waiting at the dock. Your choice.

When should we book?

As early as possible, especially around holidays and peak season, so we can secure your preferred sunset date and arrange the details.
