Why Sunset by Boat

The most romantic two hours in Naples

A sunset cruise is romance on autopilot — gorgeous light, gentle water, and nothing to do but enjoy each other and the view. Make it private and it’s just the two of you and your captain, who stays out of the way and lets the evening unfold.

We cruise from downtown out toward Gordon Pass for the open-Gulf sunset, and you can dress it up however you like: champagne on ice, fresh flowers, your playlist, even a photographer to catch the moment. Planning a proposal? Tell us — we’ve helped many go off perfectly.

Anniversaries, date nights, honeymoons, or just a Tuesday that deserves better — this is the cruise.

  • Built for couples — private & intimate
  • Champagne, flowers & a photographer on request
  • Open-Gulf sunset at golden hour
  • Proposals welcome — we’ll help you plan

Romantic Sunset Cruise: running south to Caxambas Pass for the open horizon

South of Marco, where the Ten Thousand Islands start breaking the coastline into pieces, Caxambas Pass opens onto Gulf water with almost nothing between the boat and the horizon — no high-rises, no channel traffic, just mangrove shoreline falling away behind you and open sky ahead. It’s the run our captains favor for a romantic sunset out of Goodland, because the last stretch before the pass gives a couple five or six unbroken minutes of watching the color build before the sun actually meets the water.

On an evening with a gentle east breeze — blowing off the land instead of onto it — the Gulf side of the pass lies close to flat, and the color doesn’t just fill the sky, it lays down on the water in a long streak running right up to the transom. That’s the moment we ease the throttle back to a slow drift: no wake, no chatter over the motor, just the hull settling sideways in the current while the light does the rest of the work for you.

A stiffer onshore wind changes the plan. Rather than push a couple through chop at the pass mouth for a rougher ride, we hold just inside, tucked behind the mangrove point where the water stays protected and the sunset still plays out in full — you lose some of that open-horizon width, but you keep a smooth ride and a stretch of water that’s usually just yours. We’d rather trade a few degrees of view for comfort than push anyone through a bumpy last twenty minutes.

We keep the cushions and the small table between the bow seats clear on this trip specifically, since most couples want their hands free for a glass and a phone, not for holding on. Watch the wake behind us as we ease out: right at slack tide it goes glassy enough to hold a reflection of the whole sky for a second before it breaks apart. That’s usually the moment we point out over your shoulder rather than say much of anything at all.

This far south, we also don’t often share the anchorage with the boats running sunset trips out of Naples proper — most of that traffic clusters west of Gordon Pass, while a Goodland departure puts us into a different stretch of open Gulf entirely. The quiet that comes with it isn’t really about scenery so much as pace: no other engines idling nearby, no other captain jockeying for the same patch of water to line up a different group’s photos, just your own boat holding still while the color runs its course.

If your evening is built around a proposal or an anniversary, we can also build in a slower pace or a longer hold at the color’s peak — details we talk through with our special occasions team before you ever step aboard. For a larger group instead of a couple, the same golden hour works well aboard a private sunset cruise, just with more deck room to spread out and celebrate.

Romantic Sunset Cruise sunset cruise questions

What’s the most romantic boat tour in Naples?

A private romantic sunset cruise — the two of you, golden-hour Gulf light, and add-ons like champagne and flowers. It’s consistently our top pick for couples, anniversaries and proposals.

Can you help plan a proposal?

Yes, and we love it — tell us your plan and we’ll set the scene, time the cruise to peak sunset, and arrange champagne or a photographer. Many couples have gotten engaged on our boats.

Can we add champagne or flowers?

Absolutely — just ask when you book and we’ll have it aboard. You’re also welcome to bring your own.

Is it just the two of us?

On a private charter, yes — just you and your captain, who keeps a respectful distance. Shared small-group sunset cruises are also available if you prefer.

When should we book?

Romantic and proposal cruises book up around holidays and peak season, so reserve early. The live booking screen shows availability.
