Why Celebrate Afloat

A year together, celebrated right

Your anniversary deserves more than a reservation — it deserves a moment. A private sunset cruise gives you exactly that: golden light on the Gulf, gentle water, and uninterrupted time together while the captain quietly handles everything.

Bring the champagne (or let us arrange it), add flowers and your song, and we’ll find the prettiest spot for the sunset. Whether it’s your first or your fiftieth, it’s a romantic, easy way to celebrate where you proposed, married, or just love to be.

Many couples make it a tradition — and a few even come back to where they got engaged on one of our boats.

From the Helm

Anniversary cruises: our line through Big Marco Pass on the last of the incoming tide

For an anniversary cruise, our captains plan the route before we ever leave the dock, because the whole point is a smooth, private ride to golden hour rather than a bumpy commute to get there. Most afternoons we run out through Big Marco Pass on the tail of an incoming tide, when the current is still pushing water in against a light breeze and the pass lies flatter instead of stacking a short chop against itself. That window gives us a calm approach to open water without slowing to duck swells, so the champagne stays in the glass and the conversation doesn’t have to compete with a rough ride.

When the wind sits out of the southwest and pushes straight into the pass, we change the plan rather than fight it. Our captains tuck north into the lee behind Coon Key, where the mangrove shoreline breaks up the chop and the water goes calm enough to hold a steady drift. You lose a few degrees of open horizon, but you gain a boat that isn’t rocking every time someone lifts a glass — for a couple celebrating a year together, steady water usually matters more than a wider view.

Once we’re positioned, our captains watch the horizon rather than the clock. We let the boat settle into a drift a few minutes before the color really starts, so by the time the sun touches the water you’re already still — no wake, no engine noise, just the hull rocking gently underneath you. That handoff, cutting power and letting the boat find its own quiet, is the moment we’re actually working toward the whole trip. It’s a small thing from the helm, but it’s the difference between watching a sunset and feeling like you’re inside one.

We keep the route flexible right up until we commit, because Gulf light changes by the week and a plan that worked last month can look flat this month if a haze sits low on the horizon. If Big Marco Pass is running crowded with other boat traffic that evening, we’ll slide the anchor point closer to the quieter water off Factory Bay instead, trading a few minutes of open view for the privacy an anniversary cruise is supposed to deliver in the first place.

An anniversary deserves that kind of attention to the small stuff — the tide, the wind, the exact minute we cut the engine — because none of it shows up in a photo but all of it shows up in how the evening actually feels. If you’re weighing this against a romantic cruise with no set occasion attached, the routing logic from the helm is nearly identical; what changes is the toast. Either way, we’d book it as a private charter, so the boat, the route and the timing are built around your evening and no one else’s.

Anniversaries questions

What’s a romantic anniversary idea in Naples?

Can we add champagne or flowers?

Yes — bring your own or ask us to arrange champagne, flowers and other romantic touches aboard.

Is it just the two of us?
