From the Helm

Choosing the private shuttle’s lane along Aqualane Shores when the wind’s out of the east

A private water shuttle gives us room to make a call that a scheduled run doesn’t — which side of the bay to run down, based on nothing but that day’s wind. On an east wind, we’ll favor the western shoreline past Aqualane Shores, where the houses and seawalls knock down the chop enough to keep the ride flat for a boat that’s carrying exactly who we tell it to. That’s a routing option a scheduled run never gets, since there’s no set list of stops pulling us back into the open middle of the bay.

When the wind swings around out of the west instead, that sheltered lane stops working and we’ll cross to the opposite shore, riding the lee behind the docks and the seawalls there until we’re ready to angle back toward wherever the group’s headed. Neither route is faster on paper — the miles work out about the same — but the one that keeps the ride smooth changes with the wind, and a private shuttle is the only version of this trip where we can chase that without throwing off anyone else’s plans.

Because the whole boat is yours, timing bends too. We’ll hold at the dock past a scheduled hour if a squall line’s still clearing to the east, or push a departure earlier to beat a dropping tide at a dock that only floats reliably above a certain water level. That flexibility is the real value in a private run, especially for special occasions built around one exact moment, not just a faster boat, just one that isn’t locked to anyone else’s clock.

Most groups don’t notice any of this happening — they notice that the ride stayed flat when they expected some bounce, or that we held five extra minutes at the dock and it turned out to matter. At the rail, we’ll point out which shoreline we’re tucked behind and why, since most guests are curious once they realize the captain picked that side on purpose rather than by habit. It’s the kind of detail that turns a private ride into something closer to a briefing, for anyone who wants one.

A private water shuttle runs on the same reads we’d give any charter out of Naples Bay — wind, tide, and the dock waiting at the other end — just without a set stop list dictating the line we take to get there. If your plans are simpler, a dock-to-dock run covers the same water on a fixed route; if they’re not, this is the version built to bend around whatever the day throws at it.

Good to Know

Private Water Shuttle questions

What is a private water shuttle in Naples?

It’s a private boat and captain for your group, used for dock-to-dock travel, dinner runs or moving around Naples Bay on your own schedule. Unlike a shared service, the timing and route are entirely yours.

How much does a private water shuttle cost?

Priced by the boat and time, like a charter, rather than per person. See live options on the booking screen or call for a quote.

Can it take us to dinner?

Yes — a private shuttle is great for dinner runs to waterfront restaurants, on your reservation’s timing. See our restaurant shuttle too.

How many people can it carry?

Depends on the boat; tell us your group size and we’ll match the right vessel.

Can we add stops or a sunset?

Yes — it’s your boat, so add stops, linger for the sunset, or adjust the plan as you go.
