Booking a boat tour is the easy part. Knowing what to actually expect once you’re standing on the dock — will I get seasick, what do I wear, is there a bathroom, can grandma come along — is what most guests wonder about. This is our captains’ running answer key: honest talk on comfort, safety, marinas and boat-speak, plus the real reasons a USCG-licensed captain and a shallow-draft boat are the right call out here. Read up, then come see the Ten Thousand Islands for yourself on a boat tour with us.

Quick Answers

Frequently asked

Do I need boating experience to go on a tour?

No experience needed at all. Our USCG-licensed captains handle the boat, the route and the safety briefing — you just show up ready to enjoy the ride.

What should I bring on a boat tour?

Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses with a strap and something to keep your phone dry are the essentials. We provide the life jackets and the local knowledge.

Is there a bathroom on board?

Most of our boats have a private head on board; if a specific trip doesn’t, our captains plan around it. Ask when you book if it’s a priority for your group.

Do you tip the captain and crew?

Tipping isn’t required, but it’s customary and appreciated for a job well done, similar to any guided tour or charter experience.

Can grandparents or guests with mobility needs come along?

Often, yes — let us know about mobility needs when you book so our captains can plan boarding and seating accordingly.

How do I know if bad weather will cancel my trip?

Our captains monitor wind, storms and sea state right up to departure and will reach out to reschedule if conditions won’t make for a safe, comfortable ride.
